Frequently Asked QUESTION

DOES ACUPUNCTURE HURT?

No, it doesn’t hurt!

My treatments are very relaxing, my needle technique is very gentle and
effective, the majority of the times my patients have a little “Acu-nap.”

In my practice, I use very fine disposable needles to stimulate specific anatomic
sites in your body, this helps to trigger the nervous system response helping to
strengthen the body’s functions, promoting a faster healing processes.

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORKS?

Scientists and doctors have several theories to explain the benefits of
Acupuncture

  • Neurotransmitter Theory
Acupuncture stimulates the release of specific neurotransmitters that stimulate
    the immune system function
  • Autonomic Nervous System Theory
Acupuncture stimulates the release of norepinephrine, and stimulates several
types of opioid receptors creating a positive affect to the nervous system,
helping to reduce pain and inflammation.
  • Vascular-Interstitial Theory
Acupuncture affects the electrical system of the body. This facilitates healing by
allowing the transfer of material and electrical energy between normal and
injured tissues. This electrical energy is part of what we call “Qi” in Traditional
    Chinese Medicine.
  • “Qi” is the vital force of energy and the transformation potential in every
    living organism and its parts.
You can call it ATP (Adenosine triphosphate), this is the molecule that carries
energy within cells. All living things use ATP.
  • Blood Chemistry Theory
Acupuncture can both raise and diminish peripheral blood components,
regulating the body helping the individual to be in homeostasis, stimulating the
blood circulation and oxygenation to the specific area with pain or imbalance
